Nutrition Elements on Instagram has her fanbase in a tizzy. With hundreds upon hundreds of highlights saved around the topic of drinking water, Kaleigh has influenced me to try a new water often, and I learned a few new terms along the way, as well as renewing my faith in simple things.
“Drink what tastes good.”
Kind of the bottom line. Kaleigh says to try spring and mineral waters and find out what’s the best for you based on what tastes good. Your body knows what it’s doing.
“TDS”
Stands for Total Dissolved Solids. When your water is naturally filtered through rocks in nature, it’ll have stuff in it. Stuff that your body can use! Look for high numbers of TDS and note how the flavor changes.
“Reverse Osmosis water is dead.”
A few hundred of the message testimonials that have been posted are about how once they started drinking RO water their teeth got sensitive, hair thinned, or a number of other health problems occurred. Even if you “add minerals back in”, it seems that Reverse Osmosis water does not sit well with a lot of people’s honest to goodness health.
“Research your tap water.”
I admit I had never considered this one. Look up what your tap water is like and where it comes from. Way less tap water is fluoridated than you’d think. Some of it is actually spring water. Check it out and discover more about your local tap water before you judge it as bad just because it comes out of your faucet. Also a rise in my personal wisdom - don’t fall for the “but look at the inside of these gross pipes!” fear porn. Kaleigh mentioned stalactites, and the insides of caves with crystal clear waters. Mineral buildup does not mean that your water is bad.
“I could never get my kids to drink and now they’re crazy for it!”
Kids and animals intuitively knowing what is good for them is a big theme in the water debate, once a water tasting is done and the kids find one that really gives them energy. A lot of adults are saying that they found they didn’t need to drink as much to feel hydrated, among other more blatant miracles.
Findaspring.org will help you find local springs you can go fill up at on your own.
The instagram in question with lots of similar posts about hydrating foods and summaries about water drinking to heal thine soul.
Another wonderful one with recommendations and ratings from a “water sommelier” Martin Riese.
I can’t help but remember my ex Robert’s grandmother who just had such a hard time drinking enough water, but always had distilled water, which these folks would say is dead water, not living water. I bet there is a spring water out there that would make her look forward to more drinking and that her cells would light up over.
The bottom (fun) line: go get some waters and taste them.
The next time you go into a grocery store, get yourself a water tasting selection of 4-5 spring and mineral waters to sample at home with friends and family. Ooh and ahh over how different and excellent they are. Notice how you feel and how your body reacts to different ones. You just might find a new love that brings you vitality and life force. Try a new one every time you can.
