Good Life Advice for the Teenager I Work With
I have a 17-year-old little friend that works in the larger grocery store the Starbucks is in. It has to be her first or second job. I can tell she’s a good kid, with a good mind and lots of youth.
Last night she came up to tell me about her weekend plans to go away with this boy.
She said that some people didn’t really like him but she really liked him. (I don’t know who is “people” - it may just be other people that we work with).
So I started asking some questions.
Was there any part of her that doubted?
What did she like about him?
Obviously she has some doubts or she wouldn’t even bring it up. Even more obviously, there is nothing anyone can do to deter a 17-year old with a crush from going on with seeing the boy they like a whole bunch.
I’m not her mother. But she does seem to like me and there was a bit of room to be a good influence on this kid.
