Kid stuff
Putting a kid in things that artificially support them for long periods of time - bouncy stand-up stuff, etc., alters the way their physique develops and “skips” developmental stages. If a kid can’t support themselves in the position, its because their abdominal wall, nerves, and other things haven’t formed yet in such a way to, and they will given the right amount of time. Skipping stuff alters their neurological development. I also think putting kids in shoes is probably altering brains in ways we can’t begin to know yet, since they are not getting feedback about their environment through their feet when they’re in socks and shoes. If you were in a bouncy chair a lot or “skipped crawling” and wonder where those IQ points really went (hahaha) check out The Prague Institute’s work with Dynamic Neuromuscular Stability (DNS) and find a chiropractor or someone near you that can help you make the literal nerve connections to find them. Moar body connections = smarter guy.
Satiety is a word I learned from either Sacred Cow by Diana Rodgers and Robb Wolf or Whole 30 by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig, I think. Basically if you eat animal fat you’ll stop wanting more food. It’s really hard to overeat meat or meat products with a decent fat content as long as you’re not also eating french fries, and the meat provides nutrients in a way that bodies absorb better than plant-based options, meaning the body has to go through fewer steps to make them available for use within the body. Wolf definitely defined that for me. He’s a nerd. I drink his LMNT product a lot. See the next number. Granted, it’s hard to overeat any whole foods that aren’t fried or salted or paired with other novel flavors that keep refreshing your taste for others. You know how when you have an injury that’s healing you need a lot of protein and fat because your body uses those things to build healthy replacement tissue? Well, kids are growing whole new bodies that are bigger than their old ones all the time. Kids need a lot of protein and animal fat. I see most parents giving their kids these lunches that I too would have thought of as healthy if I hadn’t gone down some of these rabbit holes. Raw fruit and veggies and peanut butter sandwiches and crackers don’t provide a lot of building blocks for kids bodies. Your body cannot create all amino acids as far as I know without animal products. Yes, their bodies will figure out growing and surviving anyway. No, I don’t know what the kids eat when they’re not at preschool. The crackers and stuff like it are so hyperpalatable/engineered with billions in research to be tasty and addictive far beyond what anything found in nature would be that kids don’t stand a chance when given them as an option. It’s not even fair. I crave the shit out of them now that I’m around the kids and their snack foods 5 days a week. All of us would do better to eat a protein-rich breakfast, like, mostly animal protein, if you want your blood sugar levels to be relatively stable, which means a cascade of other positive effects when you add the emotional stability that comes with it vs a carb-or-sugary-filled breakfast. Also, the bioavailability factor again - you can actually use more of the food for your body, which helps regulate your hormones, and makes you less likely to be depressed. If you know someone who is vegan and depressed, buy them Sacred Cow or show them the movie by the same name. It will overcome most moralistic vegan arguments. There’s a great personal anecdote from a woman who was morally vegan until she started trying to grow her own food. If they’re doing it for religious or spiritual reasons, and they’re probably not, then that’s different.
Doing something with your water helps a lot. You can drink gobs of it and absorb very little. If you add salt it helps. I add LMNT to my water when I’m outside and I think I want the salt more than the water really. Eating fruit is also hydrating in a different way because the water is structured differently in it. I’m just getting into some structured water experiments but just assume that plain water isn’t getting absorbed as fully as it could be. Salt is a good thing to experiment with. Just see if you notice a difference with a small pinch stirred into your bottle. Marathoners have been on the pickle juice train for hydration for a long time. For true water nerds, Luke Storey has a whole page of podcasts he’s done about them. It’s where I heard of Veda Austin and took her water freezing crystallography course. This is the most recent thing I both purchased and listened to (see video conversation at the bottom of the page) about water - the Analemma water wand.
Sunlight does way way way more for us than we realize, like help fluids pump through our body by structuring the water inside of us, and most adults probably get what like 20 minutes of direct sunlight if that a day? Literally? Isn’t that insane? Think about it. Most adults probably only see the sun if they are walking from their car to a building. They’re bathed in flourescent lighting. Their feet never touch the earth or plants or often even the floors in their house bc slippers and socks and stuff. We are electric beings in a really distorted electric environment. But it doesn’t have to be that way. The electricity in our bodies is so dysregulated because we don’t touch nature or let it touch us (sun), and we don’t touch the earth with our skin. The sun isn’t killing you. Did you see all the poison product recalls for “sun protection” products recently?
If you have a poor diet the sun will fuck with you more than if you don’t as it interacts with whatever you have going on there. The war on sun exposure is a billion percent a psy-op to separate us from health and make us more controllable and buy more products. Isn’t that wild? No, I’m gonna refer you to GNM again if you make the skin cancer argument. It’s not what you think it is. Ok, that’s probably far enough off the “normal” train for today. Happy Wednesday, at least on the west coast of the USA. Love ya.
