Chances are you have been exposed to ideas and news that are stretching your attention farther and farther away (if you are not in one of the affected areas currently on the news). And as your attention is stretched, you feel stretched. Like butter scraped over too much bread, perhaps?
More likely your attention has become like gum, stretched to transparent while attached to some politician’s shoe.
If the things you’re seeing are stressing you out they may be making it more difficult to attend to the things in your own home. Stress underpins every known ailment under the sun.
This exercise came up while talking to somebody on the Jiu-Jitsu mat tonight about a back pain but the broader need for it became apparent while swiping through fear porn from about eight different angles on a single photo carousel on Instagram. War, hurricane, politics, war, poison, war…
The hurricane in NC was definitely manmade weather intervention by the way, meant to take control of lithium and quartz mining property. I predict we will eventually in future decades have the documents declassified around how the government colluded with this or that industry to kill American citizens and blame climate change.
In order to break free of what is not important or applicable to your own, personal life and the things you plan to do or change in your immediate bubble, I’d like you to check your messages.
My friend Haleigh has a new, brilliant post about this with slides oh-so-worth reading through:
I mean to check the messages in your own body system. Those of you that pray frequently may have a good practice along these lines already, but maybe not.
Most people’s relationships with their bodies are a distrustful one-way street, trying to shut the body up more than listen to the messages it conveys. People assume the worst, and in the attempt to fix things ramble about from one logical thought and idea to another as if in some pinball machine. Meanwhile, the body is waiting there, quietly or loudly, to speak.
Check your messages
Sit outside, touching dirt or grass. Clover will feel cooler to your feet than most other grasses.
Focus on your body. You may begin grounding into it by attempting to place your attention on a particular piece of it, but you may find your attention quickly drawn towards something else. Let it.
Open your intention to receiving any messages that are for your highest good or based in love.
Let your attention flow wherever it takes you, or let whatever messages in that move through the opening.
What you may notice are nonsensical images, ideas popping into your head, “random” (my favorite word here bc it’s not at all random) memories or thoughts, physical sensations of energy flowing in your body, or physical impulses to do something. Trust your judgement to discern what just needs to be witnessed and what needs to be done. You’re letting stagnant energy leave you and releasing it into the earth. Pretend your friend just asked you to listen, and do that for your likely very cluttered energy field.
I’ve been doing a similar exercise in the bath, choosing to let water be my medium, but I’ve taken a few naps lying on dirt lately as well. Energy has been chaotic for many people recently. Grounding with the earth and rocks is necessary for most. When you begin to feel filled up to the brim, go to the earth and check your messages. See what’s been waiting for you to hear it. What important things just need your permission to move on.
Love it all.
