Lots of thoughts here. If you purposely went to audio to illustrate extra-texting communication, it worked! Even with the terrible bad audio I experienced on my headphones.
For me, your focus is on the personal, which is where it must begin. I suppose there are people who are 100% satisfied with all of their relationships. I wouldn’t know.
Here at a near final stage of a long life I’m not satisfied with my current relationship connections. Not at all desperate, just wishing and looking for opportunities; especially for real, in the same physical space connections. Not a lot, but currently running close to empty, except of course for my wife.
Our physical environment here in North County SD isn’t particularly supportive. A challenge to overcome.
Thanks for the feedback. It sounded ok on the playback I did before posting, sorry about that. I have a microphone somewhere that got lost in my last move. (Sad face)
I also keep coming back to the biggest levers existing at the most personal levels. I found Open Minds because I realized I was hardly getting any in-person conversation. In that same week I tried Toastmasters (went back 3x, enjoyed it but it also lost its sheen after a few rounds), a meditation group, and a volunteer cleanup for local trash, Open Minds was the most consistently engaging and Freeform enough to appeal to me.
The options are out there for finding people doing things in-person, I was pleased to find. But I am still creating my own ideals. I hope that identifying what you’re looking for leads to action that brings more clarity. It’s often that an idea doesn’t play out as imagined, but then at least I know.
Thanks for the reply. Thursday evening Hwe and are going to attend a new MeetUp discussion group that meets in the organizer’s home is Vista. We’ll see.
Yes. A subscriber has complete control over notifications at the individual substack level. I forgot that I turned everything on. Thanks for clarification.

I also don’t think people get Substack notifications when they aren’t involved in the thread, to your considerate concern about that

Oh really! Wait, is this Basil’s new group? He’d mentioned an idea a while back. About consciousness.
